In the last month, there’s been NINE armed robberies in Northwest Washington.
(For those of you that don’t know DC, it’s a big deal because that’s traditionally one of the safest parts of town.)
D.C. Abortion Ban? An Arizona Congressman has introduced legislation that would ban late-term abortions in the Washington.
The Today Show Down Under
Why can’t news in the U.S. be more like this?!
If you’ve ever dreamed of being an astronaut, now is your chance! NASA has just kicked off its application process for new astronauts. Deadline is January 27, 2012. I’m looking for serious candidates who are actually going to apply and who meet the qualifications listed here:

the incomparable Lesley Stahl in her book, Reporting Live
I’m immersed in her memoir and it’s making me feel like I got into this business thirty-years too late. At least I can take comfort knowing that the “reporter stakeout” was as bad back then as it is today.

If you want to see how crazy TV reporters cover hurricanes, then watch this.
(My apologies for the poor audio quality. I had to seal my iPhone in a waterproof case. Pop in some headphones if you can’t hear it.)
Wake up Washingtion! Congrats on surviving the Great Earthquake of 2011! I’m live at the Washington Monument where engineers are inspecting cracks caused by the quake. Contrary to popular opion, the monument is not going all Guido on us (a la the Leaning Tower of Pisa). But it is closed until the cracks can be repaired.
